Nestled atop the sacred Devarabole hill in Kadatoka, Honnavar Taluk, the Shri Swayambhu Temple carries a living heritage spanning more than two millennia. According to ancient lore, the devoted Shiva worshipper Kharasura consecrated this Shivalinga during his midday prayers, making it one of the region's most venerated sites.
ಹೊನ್ನಾವರ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಕಡತೋಕದ ದೇವರಬೊಳೆ ಗಿರಿಯ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಸ್ವಯಂಭೂ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ರಂಡು ಸಹಸ್ರ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಮೀರಿದ ಜೀವಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
The original structure, crafted in the Vesara-Chola tradition using red stone with a copper-coated roof, stood for centuries amid dense forests. Hundreds of ancient stone steps lead devotees down to a holy reservoir. The Lord is believed to grant wishes, heal ailments, and protect the green pastures of the land.
ಕೆಂಪು ಕಲ್ಲು ಮತ್ತು ತಾಮ್ರ ಲೇಪಿತ ಚಾವಣಿಯಗಳಿಂದ ವೇಸರ-ಚೋಳ ವಾಸ್ತು ಶೈಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲ�ಭಟ ಮೂಲ ರಚನೆ ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಭವ್ಯವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿತ್ತು.
In 2015, under the guidance of Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Mahaswamiji and the collective faith of the community, the temple was completely rebuilt in full stone at an investment of approximately 𠮒.5 crores. The consecration ceremony took place from March 21–25, 2015, beginning a vibrant new chapter for this timeless shrine.
2015ರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಘವೇಶ್ವರ ಭಾರತೀ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿಜಿಯವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 𠮒.5 ಕೋಟಿ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಶಿಲಾ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಗುಲವನ್ನು ಮರು-ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
Built in Chola style under Vastu expert Mahesh Muniyangala, sculpted by Manjunath Prasad and Guru Prasad. Designed for 1,000+ years of durability in complete stone.
ವಾಸ್ತು ತಜ್ಞ ಮಹೇಶ್ ಮುನಿಯಂಗಳ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೋಳ ಶೈಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಕಡತೋಕದ ದೇವರಬೊಳೆ ಗಿರಿಯ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ. ಚಂದ್ರಶಾಲೆ, ಪುರೋಹಿತ ವಸತಿ ಸೇರಿದೆ.
Uniquely, no Nandi statue stands here. Legend holds that a Nandi once came alive nightly, destroying crops. Devotees prayed, buried the Nandi, and built the Nandi Mantapa in its memory.
ಈ ದೇಗುಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಂದಿ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಂದಿಯು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಬೆಳೆ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತೆಂಬ ದಂತಕಥೆ ಇದೆ.
From Karthika Shuddha Padya to Makara Sankramana, Bali is performed daily. During Dhanurmaasa, twice daily. Shatarudra, Shanikathe, Havana and viniyogas are offered by devotees.

During this sacred month, special sacrifices are performed twice daily — at dawn and evening — making it one of the most auspicious periods at the temple.
